The Organization for Scholarship on

Industry Self-regulation

Institutional Foundations for

Industry Self-Regulation

Harvard Business School

February 16-17, 2007

Self-regulatory institutions operate in a wide array of domains including collaborative research and development, environmental protection, fiduciary responsibility, consumer protection, and worker or product safety. Examples include open source communities, professional codes of conduct, ratings organizations, standard setting bodies, and a variety of private-sector alternatives to government regulation.

This organization brings together researchers who are interested in the institutional foundations of self-regulation.

Our goal is to establish a community of scholars investigating self-regulation in multiple domains.  We believe that such a community will help advance the field and increase the impact of scholarship.
